I got some insight into this much debated topic while i was watching a sermon by Pastor Doug Bachelor, He gives a clear and reliable explanation to this topic and I hope you may think carefully and logically when u read this. This teaching is based on the text Luke 17: 31 to 36. I want to draw your attention to the the prophetic symbols in the bible.
Sleep = death ( if you read the bible in Mark 5:32-43 with special emphasise on verse 39, you will see that Jesus equated death to sleep, also if you read the story of Lazarus John 11: 1 - 44 with special emphasise on verse 11)
The Field = The world (read Matt 6: 24 - 30 and 36-43 this is the parable of the wheat and the weeds)
The men = Labours or what we call today men of God who work in the mission field
The woman = the Church ( read Rev 12 may need further study for some people, also Jesus calls Himself he bridegroom who is coming to get His bride which is the church of God)
Then there is 2 why is the number 2 so significant in these verse. now i will explain fully
there will be 2 kinds of people that will be dead when Jesus comes the dead in Christ and the not dead in Christ, The dead in Christ will be taken up to meet Jesus in the sky and the not dead in Christ will remain. There will be 2 kinds of Churches at the time that which is the church of God and that which is not the church of God both will be feeding the people with spiritual food. the 2 men in the field will be the 2 kinds of labourers, those who are labouring in this world for God and those who profess to be labouring for God but are not. Matt 21:31 - 46, in conclusion read Matt 7:21 - 23.
I say we must exam our lives and our hearts, examine the words we receive from those who preach to us, if they are not consistent with the Bible we better do something about it, for everyone in that great and terrible day of the Lord will be held accountable for the choices they have made and can not say like Adam "It is this woman you gave who made me eat of the fruit" or like Eve "it is the serpent that deceived me". In today's information age we have all the references to substantiate biblical truth which is consistent with most of unaltered history. Check it out and ensure that your faith is based on biblical fact and principle not new age theory.
